Reflection
The earth’s old light burns fire in the sky
Making silhouettes of distant trees
Melting into the sea; turning to night
The flame casts a pink and melon shadow
Over the earthly twilight sky;
Brilliant pastels mirrored on the settling surf
I gaze upon the western water’s edge
Awestruck by the bright wonder;
Dreaming of a distant star
What will the morrow bring?
My imaginings are scattered and few
Hoping dawn will shine vibrant and blue
Guiding my day; my future
And if the sun does not shine
Let it be known to all mankind
That it’s there–in the distant sky
Making a new day; creating a new life.
